Head trauma leads to young child’s death in Oklahoma

One family in Oklahoma may soon be considering their legal options after a recent death. Reports stated that a 19-month-old boy suffered head trauma that proved fatal. The young child was reportedly hit on the head, which resulted in his suffering a cracked skull and subsequent brain injury. The injury apparently occurred due to the action of an adult.

A 35-year-old man has been accused in the boy’s death, and that man is currently facing charges for first degree murder. Details on how the injury was suffered were not given in the report. It was also unclear how the man was potentially related to the child, but it was speculated that the man was the boyfriend of the child’s mother.

Police were informed of the incident, apparently after the child had been taken for treatment of the the head trauma. They were called to an area hospital, and soon after, the child was flown to another medical center. However, his injuries proved fatal, and the man was taken into custody as a result. Additional information regarding the incident may become available at a later time.

The young boy’s father has already expressed grief over the loss of his son and will undoubtedly face many emotional hardships. Because the boy’s fatal head trauma was apparently caused due to the actions of another individual, there may be cause for civil legal action apart from the criminal charges. Filing a wrongful death claim against the individual considered responsible could allow the child’s family to seek compensation for damages permitted under Oklahoma law.
